About Us

Love-40 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth tennis development in Zambia, with a focus on underserved communities.

In tennis, “Love-40” represents a moment of challenge, when a player must fight back to stay in the game. For the children we serve, this idea reflects real life. Many face limited resources and opportunity, but with the right support, they can compete, grow, and succeed.

Our role is simple: remove barriers so talent and effort can shine.

  • Our Mission
  • Our Vision

Love-40 exists to create opportunity for children and adolescents in Zambia by using tennis as a tool for growth, confidence, and life skills.

Through access to proper equipment, coaching support, and structured competition, we help young people develop their abilities, recognize their potential, and build belief in themselves and their futures.

Our vision is a future where every child with the passion to play tennis has access to the resources and support needed to grow, compete, and succeed, regardless of economic background.

We believe tennis can change lives by opening doors, building discipline, and creating pathways to opportunity.

Our Story

Mr. Sydney Bwalya is a former professional tennis player from Zambia whose career spans elite competition, collegiate athletics, coaching, and philanthropy. He began playing tennis at age eight under the guidance of his father, Adrian, and quickly rose to become one of Africa’s top junior players, reaching a world ranking of No. 295 on the ITF junior circuit. He represented Zambia in the Davis Cup from 1995 to 2001, serving as playing captain in 1998 and 2001, and remains Zambia’s most successful Davis Cup player with 22 singles wins and 10 doubles wins. He also competed on the ATP circuit, reaching the 1100s in the rankings through ITF Futures and Challenger events.

In 2000, Mr. Bwalya moved to the United States on a tennis scholarship to Barton County Community College, where he earned NJCAA All-American honors and helped lead the team to a national runner-up finish. He later transferred to Washburn University, playing No. 1 singles and doubles and contributing to the program’s first NCAA Division II National Championship appearance.

Mr. Bwalya went on to build a successful coaching career, earning ITA Coach of the Year honors and induction into the Barton Sports Hall of Fame. He is currently a tennis professional in Dallas and remains deeply involved in youth development and philanthropy as a co-founder of Love-40 and founder of CPSI and ESS Bee Sports, LLC.

THE REALITY ON THE GROUND

Why Support Is Needed

Many children in Zambia who are eager to learn tennis face challenges such as limited access to equipment, shared or worn-out racquets, and a lack of structured training opportunities.

Without proper resources, even the most motivated young athletes are placed at a disadvantage before they ever step on the court.
