OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to make a positive change in the lives of children and adolescents, and to put smiles on their faces. We aim to help them develop their talents, and, in so doing, to help them understand their potential and their importance to the community and the world.
OUR VISION:
Love-40’s vision is to help make a difference in someone’s life through the sport of tennis. Our goals are to assist talented individuals and to help them to achieve their dreams.
ABOUT LOVE-40
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that was created to help children in Zambia receive proper equipment to learn and play the sport of tennis. In tennis, Love-40 means that a player's opponent has won the first three points of the game, and the player must face a tough challenge to even up the score and then win the game. For our children, our organization will help with their many challenges to face their everyday lives and become winners.
LOVE-15
Most of these kids come from underprivileged families suffering from unemployment because of an inadequate number of jobs in the area. In the city of Mufulira, the primary employer is a copper mining company, and one of every two people work for them.
LOVE-30
Economic conditions in Zambia have been declining for many years. Just recently, these conditions have improved. These economic troubles cause many problems for all Zambians.
LOVE-40
For children who are lucky enough to play tennis, the equipment is inadequate. They must share racquets which puts them at a disadvantage. Equipment provided by our organization gives all children a chance to play with good equipment and really learn our wonderful game.
GAME
Love-40 was created to collect monetary donations to help renovate tennis courts, used tennis equipment in good condition (such as racquets and balls), and clothing ( such as tennis shoes, shorts, socks, etc.). These donations will go directly to the children in the hope of helping them to even the score. Our organization will be assisting two tennis clubs, both located in the city of Mufulira: the Mufulira and Kantashi tennis clubs. Donated items are shipped to Zambia every six months.
SET
Love-40 was created by Zane Ochs, with a great amount of help and inspiration from Sydney Bwalya, who is a former Davis Cup player and captain for Zambia; and Mark Harris, a former tennis coach and a good friend of Zane's. Sydney Bwalya, who is currently a tennis professional at T BAR M Tennis Academy in Dallas, Texas, has now taken over leadership role of the organization. Our leadership changes will ensure that our organization reaches even greater heights.
OUR TARGET POPULATION:
We serve children between the ages of 7 and 18 and will provide tennis instruction and equipment to everyone in this age range who is interested in learning the sport of tennis, whether at a recreational or competitive level. It is our goal that everyone in the community have an opportunity to participate and to reach their potential.
OUR FUTURE PLANS:
In the future, we are hoping to set up a comprehensive sports institute comprising a wide range of sports including tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, track & field, swimming, netball, field hockey, and badminton. We will develop sports teams and leagues for competitors of all levels and will offer lessons for those wishing to improve their skills. We will also offer training in sports management.
